1. Best time to visit:
Springs (early April to May) and autumn (early October to late November) are no doubt best time to visit Nepal. Though late monsoon (September) and early December are equally nice.
2. Safety situation:
Except the villages of middle hills and some parts of terai (plain) in the south rest of the country are relatively safe. Major cities of Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan are not affected by the Maoist insurgency which has intensified since November last year. 3. Tourist Entry points are:
? Tribhuvan International airport, Kathmandu.
? Kakarbhitta, Jhapa (Easter Nepal border)
? Birgunj, Parsa.
? Kodari border
? Belhiam Bhairahawa
? Jamunaha, Nepaljung
? Gadda Chhauki, Mahendranagar (western Nepal border)
4. Travel documents -Visa:
The new visa regulation has come into effect, with its publication in the Nepal Gazette, from August 6, 2003. His Majesty’s Government of Nepal has announced a new policy of waiving visa fee for any tourist visiting the country for a period of 3 days. Similarly tourist coming from SAARC countries viz. India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bhutan, Maldives as well as neighboring People’s Republic of China will also get free visa to Nepal. Likewise arrangements have been made to provide free visa for any national fro re-entry to Nepal provided those tourist have stayed at least 15 days and more in the country in a visa year (Jan-Dec).

- Single entry tourist visas can be obtained by paying US $30 for 60 days.

- Multiple entry visa for 60 days can be obtained by paying US$ 80

- Visa extension without re-entry facility for 30 days : US$ 30 in equivalent Nepalese currency.

- Visa extension with multiple entry facility for 30 days : US$ 80 in equivalent Nepalese currency. One who has previously taken multiple re-entry facility in the same visa year will have to pay US$ 30 only.

Tourist Visa Extension : A tourist visa can be extended upto 120 days from the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu and Pokhara Immigration Office on request. Then after an additional 30 days can be extended from Department of Immigration on reasonable ground, which ensures one's departure from the country within 150 days in one visa year.

-Business visas with multiple entry facilities are available at a rate of US $100 for one year and US $250 for five years. Recommendation from the Ministry of Industry is required to obtain this visa.

5. Travel Information:
Immunization: Recommended injection: It is usually recommended to get Cholera, Tetanus, polio, typhoid, and typhus injection for travel to Nepal.

Malaria prevention tablets are recommended if you want to visit terai or jungle. Meningitis vaccine is recommended for all trekkers especially for visitors to remote villages.

Gamma Globulin is recommended for trekkers as protection against hepatitis.
