Community work in the school provides informal learning and social development environment for the participating students as well as the students of the school. It would strengthen communities by improving their knowledge, skills and confidence. The social development of the students and participating students make an important contribution towards promoting lifelong learning. It serves to encourage social inclusion and play an important role to make an active citizen
Students in the government schools are from disadvantage community, thus their participation with the students from developed countries gives them an opportunity to exposure to learn and experience. It would work vice versa.
Community work in the school involves various activities as teaching, cleaning, joining school function, participating in sports etc. This arrangement is possible during school working days. Normally school remains on holiday during the big festival in October and November as well as during summer breaks in June and July. There are two types of schools: A government-funded school known as a community school, other is a private school. Private schools can be categorized as small, medium and big depending upon their resources. Students from abroad can also visit the ACAP office in Ghandrung to learn about community participation in the forest conservation projects in this specially protected national park.
