The Trips are Specifically catered to Domestic Tourists only
According to the old tourism act, local travellers travelling inside the country for tourism purpose are not considered as tourists. Therefore there are no statistics of local travellers visiting various touristic places for tourism purpose. New tourism act is in the process of being discussed in the parliament. But it is not known if the definition has been changed. Because of this condition in the past, there were several cases where local travellers were stopped by local transport operators for riding a tourist bus.
In the treks, local travellers are not considered as tourist or trekkers. In most places they are treated as casual visitors and of course lodge owner gives priority to foreign tourists.
Hotels and safari camps in major touristic places have been giving local travellers and holidaymakers welcome treatment during tourist offseason only. Beside Indian price for Indian nationals, local people are given a local price which are little cheaper than their normal cost, though not much.
Rafting operators have a special price for local holidaymakers especially when they are in a big group. In fact, local holidaymakers find rafting an easy adventure and a quick break from the day to day life.
The corona pandemic that has been raging since March 2020 has changed the attitude of the tourism industry in Nepal too. The world tourism industry is now banking on home tourism to sustain their business. And Nepal cannot be different in this aspect. Though major tourism entrepreneurs in Nepal are still hoping for spring 2021 to salvage their business yet the present trend in rising corona cases and its victims shows the pandemic situation is unpredictable. Government has not proved it can effectively manage the crisis brought by COVID-19. The containment of corona remained unsuccessful so far.
The prolonged lockdown that started from the end of March 2020 had exhausted public patience. The relaxed rules in July though brought some sort of relief created a fertile ground for the growth of corona cases in Kathmandu valley and outlying districts. Hence administrations were forced to clamp lockdown again from 19th August. This off and on measures may continue to go on.
Despite this unfavourable domestic condition we have attempted to bring some selected trips for domestic tourists. These trips are carefully tailored to local taste and preferences. Most of the trips are very short. These are often described as “weekend break.” The trips that are longer are viable during long public holidays.

Short “weekend break” trips are good for any time. The lockdown has brought stressed to local people who live in the cities. Children and family have been locked inside the house and compound. Home entertainment and internet have become a routine matter in most households. Children are finding it hard to cope without their school. Parents are afraid of getting the virus. Elders are taking extra precautions not to adventure out. Youth are restless in absence of environment for socializing. So, to get people out in nature, as soon as the virus gets under some form of control, the well-tailored and designed trips that we have prepared can distress and rejuvenate physical fitness.
The camping trips and short walk in the mountain are exciting holidays. These are trips we have been outfitting for our foreign visitors. Our experience and expertise of 37 years in organizing adventure travel would be helpful in giving you the highest quality experience which you otherwise miss when you try to arrange everything by yourselves.
All the trips are inclusive of full services. Except for personal expenses and some meals you won’t have to worry about the logistics, trial condition, route directions, meals and accommodation. Transports are pre-arranged and the prices are negotiated to get the best deal for you. Camping equipment are organized and camping staffs are there at the destination ready to serve you. You may save a few rupees if you make self arrangement. But you would miss the very purpose of going out in nature. We have carefully crafted every element of the cost to ensure that it is affordable and reasonable. The cost is almost 30 to 40 percent less than our normal price for foreign tourists. The costs are less because we have adapted meals, transport and hotel accommodations to local condition.
Our other objective to bring special trips for the local market is to get our seasoned staffs involved in the activities so it can be beneficial for them at a time when they are unemployed. The domestic tourism activities would also help in activating tourism-based economy on which many livelihoods depend. So, it is primarily a win-win situation for travellers as well as service providers.
Prices can be made cheaper by using local transport (bus). Private transport is one of the main components of the service that increases the overall cost. There are also option to use less expensive hotel accommodations that are without extra amenities and facilities. You may be able to do without a tour- escort or guide. Instead of full-board, you may make the trip with bed and breakfast. If you consider all these conditions you can get a shoestring budget. However, there is likely to be inconvenience and delay in the services you get. It is possible that you may miss the best travel experience of your lifetime.
On the other hand, the trips price can also be at the high end if you add your own choice of quality accommodation and meals. Instead of the hotel accommodation in the tour package, you can upgrade and add luxurious elements in the service. In trek and camping, we don’t feel it is necessary to add luxury; however, on some camping trips, it is possible to add extra amenities and varieties in the food and camping facilities. As the saying goes, there is no limit to the imagination when it comes to luxury.
These are some of the few trips that are based on cultural experience. It is fun to take children and family to the village to experience village life and their typical food. The homestay experience in the village with beautiful views and warm hospitality would be an enjoyable and memorable family experience. With friends, such a trip would be a journey that bond friendship. And your participation would help the village economy. While participating in our package trip it is best not to consider only local food but the whole experience we would provide.
Trekking and hiking have been sustainable tourism activities ever since it was initiated to take foreign adventure seekers in the mountain of Nepal. Foreign explorers, mountaineers and adventure tour operators brought this particular tourism activity to an unprecedented level and maintained it to a very high standard. Mountain tourism activities, by default, have been a nature-based adventure. It discovered ethnic diversity and cultures of Nepal; these are valuable asset yet to be fully explored and used. In trekking visitors make low impact on the destination unlike other mass tourism; it benefits local people, and of course visitors get to see amazing places and take back home their memorable experiences. Mountain tourism uses local resources and offsets carbon emission because visitors travel on foot.
In local context the nature and a bit of adventure gives visitors to break free from the congested city life. The mountain and its cool air gives breath of fresh air, it rejuvenate energy and give time for family and friendship bonding. In the package tour it is a real privilege to explore and experience fascinating land, landscape, nature and cultural heritage in the comfort of good facilities and expert guidance.
The other tenet of sustainable tourism is to offset your carbon footprint. Using public bus, sharing vehicles and wherever possible using surface transport, instead of flights, are sustainable approach. But for practical purpose we prefer to use reserved transport to get to and from the destination quickly and conveniently unless it is prohibitively expensive. To make “join in” trips affordable we often share vehicles. Though it affect on your independence but it is not as inconvenient as travelling in a public bus.
All our trips are inclusive of ground transport without air condition. The net prices we have negotiated with vehicle operators are without vat. For a group less than 5 persons we use car or van. Above 6 persons depending upon group size we use coaster and tourist standard bus. For trips that go to the mountain destinations that has gravel road and off-road condition our preferred vehicles are jeeps (Bolerio or Scorpio). In the jeep we make convenient seating arrangement so you feel comfortable throughout the long journey.
Hence our objective is to give local travelers a memorable holiday and a refreshing break. We free you from planning and logistics arrangements so all members of the trip enjoy in comfort.
