Climbing – Mt. Everest in 2019

Nepal Government issued Expedition permit in spring 2019 to 39 climbing groups. There are 471 climbers to 15 various mountain peaks in Nepal.  There are 16 groups with 300 climbers attempting Mt. Everest (8848m) – 251 are males and 49 are female. Among 41 nationalities maximum number is from India.  Indian has – 67, USA has- 63 and PR China has -40 climbing members. British has – 39 climbers. Nepal is in fifth position with 12 members. Chinese government has temporarily closed Mt. Everest to clean the accumulated garbage this season.

Four groups with 35 members have permit to climb Mt. Lhotse (8516m).  Mt. Makalu (8463m) has – 30, Annapurna (8091m) – 23, Kanchenjunga (8536m) – 22, Amadablam (6914m) – 16, Saribung (6346m) – 12, Pumori (7161m) – 11, Chamlang (7321m) – 10, Gyalzen Peak (6151m) – 6, Khumbakarna (7710m) – 3, Chhopabamare (6109m) – 2 and Thapa Peak  (6012m) -1.   The number would increase by end of April, 2018. Everest permit cost US$11,000 per climber. Mt. Everest rack highest amount of foreign exchange.  So far total revenue from mountaineering royalty to the government stands at USD19.6 million (NP Rs 217 million).
