Pikey Peak Trek is a newly discovered trekking route in the Khumbu region that lives to every bit of every trekker's fantasy. Its popularity has been surging among adventure lovers and tourist alike for its close proximity to Everest. If you are constrained in time and want to see Mt. Everest as its best then this is just the right trek for you. On this trek, you are visiting the lower part of the Khumbu region popularly known as Sherpa-land. Most of our trek guides and cook come from these villages. The lower part of the Khumbu regions are pristine, vibrant and gives you an opportunity to involve closely with the local folks. Visiting local monasteries is a highlight on this trek, the Chewang monastery is one such opportunity. You’ll also be able to experience the Tamang, Magar and Sherpa lifestyle and their cultures. The dramatic scenery of mountains, landscapes, mani walls and Buddhist stupas bounds, beautiful high altitude vegetation, Himalaya floras and faunas, centuries-old monasteries are other highlights on this trek. Visiting Thuptenchholing Monastery (Little Tibet) where you can observe traditional Tibetan medicinal therapy is another attraction.
Pikey peak 4,065m used to be a favourite of Sir Edmund Hillary after he climbed it to take a look around during the walk-in on his 1953 expedition.
For several decades after that Pikey was isolated because it was so difficult to get to, and most people doing the Everest Base Camp trek overflew Pikey en route to Lukla. But now with new roads from Kathmandu to Jiri and the Solu Highway reaching Phaplu via Okhaldhunga has made it accessible to local tourist.
You have two option to do this trek :Pikey Peak trek start with a 30 minutes flight to Phaphu or long drive (7-8 hours) from Kathmandu.
