    Shuklaphata Wildlife Reserve was a hunting ground for the Roylas during 1960’s .It is therefore known was Royal Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve and it is located in Far Western Nepal near the border of India, very close to Corbett National Park. The reserve is one of the richest wildlife reserves in Asia due to its pristine sub-tropical environment. The open grasslands and numerous waterholes of the park extend into a vast expanse plain grassland and SaL forest, while marsh vegetation is found along rivers and lakes. Until recently it is a royal hunting reserve. The park is relatively remote and unexplored.

    This park was created by resettling the people to another area. Natural vegetation in this forest is now providing sanctuary for wild life. In its 305 sq. km area it has Royal Bengal Tiger, deer, 478 varieties of birds, one of the rare and largest known Asian elephant, spotted deer, barking deer, one horned rhinoceros, endangered species of birds, swamp deer, spotted deer, barking deer, black buck, gharial crocodile, marsh mugger crocodile and Gangatic dolphin.and many other animals to which you may encounter while on your stay.

    A stop at the Rani Tal would be an exciting experience. This small lake attracts birds and animals alike. Herons, ducks, storks, kingfishers and egrets vie for food and swamp deer wallow at the edges.

    How to get there?

    There are direct bus and schedule flight to Mahendranagar.
    It is 700 kms distance apart from Kathmandu and will take around 16-17 hours by road. Flight to Mahendranagar airport 1 hr 10 mins and a short drive to Sukhalaphata National Park.

  • DAY 01: ARRIVAL KATHMANDU
    Our representative will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to the Hotel in Kathmandu. He will brief you about the program and assist you throughout your stay in Nepal. Later, you can explore the streets of Thamel, the tourist capital of Nepal.
    DAY 02: FULL DAY SIGHTSEEING IN KATHMANDU VALLEY
    In the morning we take you to a walking tour of Kathmandu Durbar square. We walk through Asan, Hanuman Dhoka, temple of living Goddess, and Kastha Mandap. You go through medieval wonders that have given Kathmandu much of its mystery and atmosphere. The city itself is a labyrinth of streets and markets, crowded with exotic products and a bewildering mix of people. One can see Tibetan women in their stripped aprons, traders from India and Sadhus-Hindu holy men, who are perhaps on pilgrimage to one of the countless shrines and temples spread in the valley. As you wander, your tour guide will explain the intricacies of Nepal’s distinct blend of Hinduism and Buddhism. In the afternoon we visit Swayabhunath. It is one of the secret Buddhist stupa located on a hill top. Legend has it that the Goddess Manjushri found a shrine here after she drained the water from the valley. Today it is regarded as one of the most important Buddhist temples. The temple is located on a hill just 2 km from the city center. It has a vantage point for a panoramic view over the surrounding city and countryside. With its tremendous big white stupa it is a memorable sight to capture. You will then be guided to Boudhanath, an important place for Tibetan pilgrims and Buddhist monks. It is one of the biggest Buddhist stupa in the world and the center of Buddhism. It was listed in the UNESCO Heritage Monument in 1979.
    DAY 03: FLY TO MAHENDRANAGAR AIRPORT AND DRIVE TO SUKHILAPHATA NATIONAL PARK
    After breakfast take an earliest flight to Mahendranagar. At the aiirport our representaive will receive you and you will be escorted to your resort. The journey to the nearest resort at the National park is around 6 km – 15 mins ride from the airport. Upon arrival- The staff of the resort will welcome you, you will be served some refreshment and lunch. Rooms will be assigned and there will be a short briefing about the program and the facilities. 3:00 PM: After rest your jungle guide/naturalist will brief you about the activities and take you for a Village tour to a nearby ethnic Tharu village where you will learn more about the life and lifestyle of the Tharus. Visit to the National Park Visitor’s centre where you can learn more about the history of the National Park and about wildlife & Sun set view from the bank of Rapti River 7:00 PM: Slide presentation. One of our jungle experts will introduce background data and history of the Royal Sukhlaphata National Park, flora and fauna and as well as some other topics relating to wildlife,. Your questions are most welcome. 8:00 Dinner
    DAY 04: IN SUKHLAPHATA NATIONAL PARK
    06:00 : Wake up call. 06:30 : Breakfast. 07:00 : Jungle walk. An excellent opportunity to see the wild animals, small mammals, birds and reptiles. Excellent photographic opportunities for wildlife photography. Enjoy ox-cart ride or jeep drive back to the resort 13:00 : Lunch and rest. 15:00 : Elephant Safari. An excellent opportunity to see four different kinds of deer, antelopes, rhinoceros, wild boar, monkeys, leopard, Black beer, sloth bear and the Royal Bengal Tiger (If you are lucky). You will also encounter many bird species and other smaller mammals that have made Chitwan their home. 19:00 : Tharu cultural dance. 20:00 : Dinner
    DAY 05: IN SUKHLAPHATA NATIONAL PARK
    Wake up call. 07:00 : Breakfast. 07:45 : Guided Jeep Safari, visiting areas of the park you didn’t reach during the jungle walk. 13:00 : Lunch and rest 14:00 : Full bird watching tour 20:00 : Dinner
    DAY 06: Fly MAHENDRANAGAR TO KATHMANDU
    07:00 : Breakfast 09:00 : Depart to onward destination
    DAY 07: DEPART KATHMANDU
